Our bodies need water to function, we need water to grow and cook food. At the same time, water is also needed to maintain a basic standard of personal and domestic hygiene. All these things are directly related to one’s health, meaning when there is a lack of available water, the effects are felt in numerous ways.

NJ SHARES is dedicated to making sure that New Jersey residents do not have to go without access to water. By partnering with a variety of water providers, NJ SHARES offers eligible customers with assistance paying their water bill.

New Jersey American Water H2O Help to Others Program

Providing grants of up to $500 and/or a discount on the service charge to help qualified customers pay their water bills.

Providing grants of up to $150 to help qualified households facing a temporary financial crisis pay their water bills.

AQUA Aid Program

Providing grants of up to $150 for water service or grants of up to $250 for combined water and sewer service to help qualified households facing a temporary financial crisis with their water and/or sewer bills.

Can I apply for multiple types of grants at the same time?

Yes, you can apply for a water grant in addition to our other assistance programs.

What is New Jersey American Water’s Low-Income Payment Program (LIPP)?

New Jersey American Water’s customers who qualify may receive a 100% discount on their monthly fixed service charge for water.

Can I apply for both the New Jersey American Water grant and LIPP?

Yes. When applying for the grant you will automatically be considered for LIPP.
