A financial crisis can happen to anyone. These challenges are often due to unforeseen circumstances, such as a job loss or illness. New Jersey SHARES provides relief to people, who are not eligible for other types of assistance.
Our Mission New Jersey Statewide Heating Assistance and Referral for Energy Services (New Jersey SHARES) is a non-profit organization charged with a mission to provide assistance to individuals and families living in New Jersey who are in need of temporary help in paying their energy bills. New Jersey SHARES' Assistance Programs:
New Jersey SHARES assists income eligible households throughout New Jersey to pay their energy bills. We also administer Verizon NJ's Communications Lifeline and Link Up America programs. New Jersey SHARES also provides assistance to United Water customers with their water bills. We are the only statewide, nonprofit 501(c)(3) organization which provides grants to pay the energy and utility bills of households in need, through a statewide network of more than 230 community-based social service agencies operating out of 250 sites. National Telephone Discount Lifeline Awareness Week
New Jersey SHARES is proud to join the Board of Public Utilities (BPU), Verizon NJ and the National Association of Regulatory Utility Commissioners (NARUC) in celebration of National Telephone Discount Lifeline Awareness Week. NARUC, together with the FCC and the National Association of State Utility Consumer Advocates are designating September 14-19 (the first week after Labor Day) as "National Telephone Discount Lifeline Awareness Week." Offering Hope & Delivering Help Together
The Fuel Merchants Association of New Jersey (FMANJ) and New Jersey SHARES are addressing the severe economic condition in New Jersey by teaming up. NJ SHARES will now be able to provide grant assistance to deliverable fuel customers. FMANJ works to keep people warm and NJS works to help keep that warmth affordable and within reach for individuals and families that are not eligible for state or federal energy assistance programs.
