“NJ SHARES is a safety net for households in an emergency…
our programs are needed now more than ever.”
A letter from President & CEO James M. Jacob
Households who receive help from NJ SHARES weather a financial storm that was not forecast. A United Way study states 37 percent of our New Jersey neighbors are working but earning less than needed to cover basic costs of housing, utilities, healthcare, transportation, child care and food.
For these limited income seniors and families who are living paycheck to paycheck, a minor hiccup in income – something like a sick child or a needed car repair – can throw the household into financial turmoil and cause the family to have to choose between heating and eating.
NJ SHARES is a safety net for households in an emergency or crisis situation who are not eligible for other forms of assistance. As a result of donations from friends like you, we have provided $74 million in grants, programs and outreach that has touched the lives of more than 182,000 families since 1998.
Our programs are needed now more than ever. Through your generosity, we can can continue to help our neighbors in need. I hope that you will support NJ SHARES. Your donations are tax deductible and may be eligible for New Jersey's energy companies matching program – doubling our ability to help.
